American Oncology Network operates an alliance of more than 300 community oncology providers across 20 states, headquartered in Fort Myers, Florida. Founded in 2018, the network delivers comprehensive cancer care by aggregating practices whilst preserving their autonomy under a physician-led governance model.
The organisation provides centralised support services to partner practices, including pathology, specialty pharmacy, radiation and radiology services, clinical laboratory testing, and care coordination. It operates an oral oncolytic pharmacy to support patients on oral cancer therapies and offers financial assistance programmes for patients. The network participates in value-based care initiatives, including the Enhancing Oncology Model, to align payment with outcomes.
By consolidating back-office and clinical support functions, American Oncology Network aims to enable physicians to focus on patient care whilst maintaining the community-based oncology model. The alliance structure allows individual practices to retain operational control whilst accessing resources and expertise that would be difficult for smaller providers to develop independently.
