Yukon-Kuskokwim Health Corporation (YKHC) is a non-profit tribal organization that administers a comprehensive healthcare delivery system for nearly 30,000 Alaska Native residents across 58 remote communities. Founded in 1969, the corporation serves a service area in the Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta region of rural Alaska that is roughly the size of Oregon.
The organization operates a network of care that includes a central regional hospital, sub-regional clinics, and village-based community clinics. This structure is designed to provide a continuum of services across a vast and geographically challenging area. Clinical services extend to dental care, optometry, and behavioral health programs for mental health and substance abuse. YKHC also runs a Community Health Aide Program, which utilizes village-based support staff to deliver local care.
As a co-signer to the Alaska Tribal Health Compact, YKHC is committed to culturally relevant healthcare that respects Native self-determination. Its stated mission is Working Together to Achieve Excellent Health, with core values including compassion, the pursuit of excellence, the importance of family, and elder knowledge.
